      • Peter invites the Darling children to the magical Neverland, where they learn to fly, get involved in all sorts of adventures with Tiger Lily, and defeat the evil Captain Hook. Peter Pan is a delightful family musical featuring the Lost Boys, characters who will fly on stage, singing Pirates and Natives, daring sword-fights, and fantastical make-believe. Tickets will go on sale Monday, October 17. Adult tickets are $10 with $6 for children. NOTE: There will be no Friday performance this year due to a probable conflict with post season football being played at home that night.

      • Bluegrass & BBQ is set to be a FUN, toe-tapping evening. You will enjoy a BBQ dinner and your toes will tap as you listen to the banjo picking and sweet harmonies by the Petersens, a Family Bluegrass Band from Branson! Bluegrass and BBQ is a fundraiser for the PCHS Band Trip in April 2017 to the Dordt Band Festival and Omaha.   • Franklinton, Louisiana Needs Help! The area had flood damage recently, World Renew will have a work/mission trip January 7-14, 2017 to do reconstruction in homes. We need your response by December 3, 2016 because there is now additional paperwork that needs to be completed 4-5 weeks prior to leaving.       • Everyone, men and women, are invited to hear Ken Van Gilst speak. Ken will share about his work in Malawi, Africa. He has made 16 visits to Malawi, teaching them good farming techniques.

      • The band and choirs will perform a variety of music in the school auditorium. Come and enjoy the musical gifts of our PCHS students. A bake sale will also be held before and after the concert. The sale will begin at 6 PM with all proceeds going to the music department.

    • Oskaloosa Christian School Pop Can Drive
      • There will be a trailer in the school parking lot, located at 726 North E Street, where you can drop off your redeemable cans and bottles. The trailer will be open on Monday and Tuesday, October 3 and 4 from 8-3 and Wednesday-Friday, October 5-7 from 8-6. Spread the word to all your family, friends, and neighbors and thank them for helping us raise money for our school. If you have any questions or are unable to drop off your cans next week during the times listed, please call Vicki Van Donselaar at 641-295-4543 to make other arrangements in getting your cans. We are also planning another pop can drive for next March.

For those unable to walk in the vineyard, participate in “Sip for a Cure” by sitting and sipping one of the above beverages and enjoying the view. Tassel Ridge Winery will also be selling Wood Fired Oven Pizzas from 11 AM-4 PM with $1 per pizza going towards Relay for Life.       • After 40 plus years Don and Fran Van Polen are making this their farewell travelogue so you won’t want to miss this opportunity to view landscapes of America blended with thoughtful meditations on the Psalms. This event is sponsored by the PCHS Student Council and the price of admission is $10.
    • 7 PM – Iowa College Access Network (ICAN) College Planning Night at Pella Christian High School music room
      • ICAN will make a presentation on the search for a college as well as navigating thorugh the financial aid process. The guidance office highly recommends this meeting to juniors, seniors and their parents. It’s also a good opportunity to connect with parents who have already experiences sending a child off to college!

    • Marion County Bible Reading Marathon
      • In Isaiah 55:11 God declairs, “My Word…shall not return to Me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose.” What does our country need more than the transformation God brings through His word? Convinced of this, the Iowa Prayer Caucus Network is asking Christians to donate at least 15 minutes to publicly reading Scripture. In Marion County, the entire Bible will be read in the gazebo by the courthouse between September 6-11. Volunteers are needed to read for 15 minute segments or to serve as two-hour ‘captains,’ as well as to pray. To learn more or to sign up, go to Facebook and search for “Marion County Bible Reading Marathon.” On that page, a “sign-up” link can be found under the directions tab.   • Oskaloosa Christian School is seeking to hire a student aide for the 2016-17 school year. This is a position for a 1-1 aide for a student in our Junior High. The hours will be Monday-Fridays, for about 25 hours per week. A teaching certificate is not needed, but a love for kids and a desire to help them learn and grow in the Lord is required.
